Apartment Fire In East Topeka

Firefighters fought an apartment fire and frigid conditions just before the noon hour in East Topeka.
Two apartments, located in the 2400 block of Bellview, had major fire and smoke damage.
Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire. The possible cause they are looking at is a heat gun being used to thaw a frozen pipe in one of the apartments.
Ice hung off firefighters, as temperatures were below 10 and the wind chill making it even colder.
