TOPEKA, Kan (WIBW) The second-largest lottery jackpot in history eluded Kansas players last night, but it wasn’t for lack of trying. Sales for Tuesday’s Mega Millions drawing exceeded $2.4 million in Kansas.

No Kansas ticket matched all numbers however two tickets did match four of the first five numbers and the Megaball to win $5,000 each. Both of those tickets were sold in southeast Kansas.

The $636 million jackpot was picked in two states – California and Georgia. The winning numbers in the December 17 Mega Millions drawing were 8-14-17-20-39 Megaball 7.

The Megaplier number for the drawing was “4,” which meant players who purchased the Megaplier option on their tickets had their prizes multiplied by 4.

Kansas had 160,097 Mega Millions winners last night and they won a total of $333,446 in prizes.

The Mega Millions jackpot returns to $15 million for Friday’s drawing. The Powerball jackpot for tonight is $50 million. Hot Lotto offers a $1.9 jackpot, and the Super Kansas Cash jackpot is $100,000 after a ticket purchased in southwest Kansas won a $170,000 jackpot Monday night.
