TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Local residents strapped on their walking shoes for a good cause Friday.
The "Hope For Karis 5K Fun Run and Walk" was held at Eisenhower Middle School.
Karis is a six year old girl who was diagnosed last fall with high risk Medulloblastoma -- a form of brain cancer.
Since that time, she's undergone two surgeries, two rounds of chemo and 30 radiation treatments to her brain and spine.
All proceeds from Friday's event went to Karis's family to help with medical expenses.
