(WIBW) - The Dept. of Corrections says Eric James was apprehended in Omaha, NB around 5:30 pm Friday.
James was the last of four men who escaped the Ottawa Co. Jail early Wednesday still at large. The Dept. of Corrections did not reveal further details of his apprehension, but did say a 2002 Nissan Altima for which they'd also been searching was recovered as well.
Two of the other escapees were captured Wednesday. The third suspect, convicted double murderer Santos Carrera-Morales was taken into custody around 11:30 pm Thursday. Authorities say he hitched a ride to a convenience store in Russell, Kansas. Officers arrested him there without incident.
The four men were among inmates being housed at the Ottawa County Jail due to overcrowding at the Ellsworth state prison. The remaining 18 inmates have been moved back to Ellsworth. State corrections officials also are exploring ways to increase training for staff at county facilities where state inmates may be housed.
