Man Receives Award For Working To Stop Crime

Topeka (WIBW) - Organizers of Topeka's "National Night Out Against Crime" were recognized.

The National Association of Town Watch honored the Capital City for its participation in the event. Safe Streets presented organizer Scott Crider with the award at a ceremony Wednesday.

Crider says the more people who come together, the safer our neighborhoods will be. He says it promotes neighborhood spirit and sends a message to criminals that they are not welcome.

This year's National Night Out is planned for Saturday, August 8.
