WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals says it will drop its efforts to erect two billboards in Wichita that mention the abortion debate.
The group proposed the idea just days after the shooting death of abortion provider Dr. George Tiller.
All three billboard companies in Wichita rejected the effort, saying the timing wasn't appropriate.
One of PETA's proposed billboards would have said "ProChoice? Choose Vegetarian,'' and the other would have said ``ProLife? Go Vegetarian.''
A PETA spokeswoman said the group is disappointed by the decisions, but is happy that it prompted a conversation about being a vegetarian.
