State Dems Deny Ad On Craigslist

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) _ State Democratic Party officials say they aren't the ones who posted an ad on Craigslist looking for someone to run for U.S. Senate next year.

Party spokeswoman Andrea White says the ad was placed on the Internet classified site by someone who obviously has a sense of humor. But she emphatically denied that the Kansas Democratic Party had anything to do with it.

No Democrats have declared their intent to compete for the seat being vacated by Republican Sam Brownback, who is running for governor.

Whichever Democrat steps forward will likely face a well-financed Republican opponent. U.S. Reps. Jerry Moran and Todd Tiahart are expected to square off in the GOP primary.
