Rally Pushes Bill Decrying Govt Funding Mandates

As legislators were wrapped up the 2009 session, a rally on the southern steps of the Capitol pushed them to pass one more piece of legislation.

Attendees wanted the representatives to approve Kansas Senate Concurrent Resolution 1609, which calls on the federal government to stop penalizing states or withholding funds if they don't comply with federal mandates.

They called such legislation a violation of the 10th Amendment. The group, Kansas 912, organized the effort.
