WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ A federal judge is set to hear arguments in a lawsuit challenging a Kansas law restricting billboards for strip clubs and sex shops.
U.S. District Judge Julie A. Robinson scheduled a hearing Thursday afternoon in Topeka on whether to issue a temporary order barring the state from enforcing the law.
The statute takes effect July 1. It prohibits businesses such as strip clubs from having any outdoor advertising within a mile of a state highway.
The federal lawsuit was filed by Ohio-based Abilene Retail No. 30 Inc., which operates Lions Den Adult Superstore in Abilene.
