WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ Baking enthusiasts will gather later this month in Wichita for the National Festival of Breads.

Kansas Wheat and the King Arthur Flour Company are co-sponsoring the June 15-17 event.

It will feature baking sessions and free exhibits. Visitors will be able to walk through a miniature "Urban Wheat Field,'' which will have wheat plants in various stages of growth.

Also, eight finalists from across the nation will compete in categories, including whole grain and ethnic breads. The finalists were selected from the more than 500 amateur bread recipes that were submitted online.

The grand prize is $2,000 in cash and an expense-paid trip to the King Arthur Flour Baking Education Center in Norwich, Vt.
