EL DORADO, Kan. (AP) _ A southern Kansas man has been charged with the September 2004 killing of a woman whose body was found inside her burned home near Benton.
Bill Moore of Benton made a brief appearance Friday in a Butler County courtroom on the first-degree murder charge in the death of Carol Mould.
Authorities first believed she had died in a fire. But investigators later said several fires were found in the home and none of them killed Mould.
Her body was so badly burned that the cause of death was not determined.
Bond for Moore has been set at $250,000. A public defender also has been appointed for him.
