New Citizens Get Sworn In

Topeka (WIBW) - Dozens of immigrants took the oath of allegiance, becoming the nation's latest citizens Friday morning during a ceremony at the Frank Carlson Federal Building in Topeka.

The 52 applicants from 33 countries were welcomed by Terry Beck of the Topeka Bar Association.

The Honorable Dale Somers, United States Bankruptcy Judge, oversaw the ceremony.

Afterward, the new Americans received mementos to mark the occasion from area civic groups that gathered for the ceremony.
