WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ Residents near a secluded south-central
Kansas area where 11,000 cultivated marijuana plants were
discovered remain stunned, while investigators have no suspects.

Sedgwick County Sheriff's Capt. Annette Haga says no one in the sheriff's department can remember a larger marijuana plant seizure
in recent years.

The plants were found last week in a heavily wooded area near Goddard.

Roger Daniels, a 60-year-old retiree who lives nearby, said he had not detected any signs of the operation.

Haga said the property owner also was unaware of the operation.

The plants would have been worth nearly $8.75 million when they mature. They were in batches of pots, and authorities believe the
grower planned to move them later.

A campsite stocked with food was found nearby.
