TOPEKA, Kan. - The City of Topeka’s Housing and Neighborhood Development Department and its’ partners announced Wednesday that the Project Takeover/Makeover event scheduled for NIAs located east of Topeka Boulevard this Saturday, May 16, 2009, is “a go” regardless of rain or shine.
The City of Topeka reminds citizens to place their unwanted items at the curb Friday night, as planned.
Takeover/Makeover is a community wide effort to clean up Topeka neighborhoods, sponsored by Keep America Beautiful.
NIAs located east of Topeka Boulevard include:
• Central Highland Park
• East Topeka North
• East Topeka South
• Jefferson Square
• Highland Crest
KAB is asking volunteers for the project to help from 7 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. People are needed to help the neighborhood residents unload trucks and trailers and also to help serve lunch. Volunteers are invited to a free lunch after the event. KAB will also need volunteers with trucks to help the elderly and disabled haul their limbs to the staging area.
