A Topeka church is celebrating a big milestone.

Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church is holding revivals all week to mark Rev. W.L. Templeton's 50th year as their leader.

Templeton came to the church from Arkansas when he was 37-years old. He says he wasn't sure about the move at first, but asked the Lord to take care of him - and He has.

Templeton says he loves the people. He says he's proud to have helped some 40 men into the pastory.

He says the job has taught him a lot. He says you have to learn to forgive people when they do wrong, and they have to learn to forgive you, too, because you're going to do wrong as well. He says he hasn't done everything right, but he's done the best he could.

The 87-year old isn't going anywhere. He says the Lord hasn't told him it's time to quit yet.
