A new poll gives an early look at two key races on the 2010 ballot.

KCTV in Kansas City and KWCH in Wichita asked Survey USA to interview 1400 Kansas adults.

Sixteen months before the primary, it finds U.S. Sen. Sam Brownback with a big lead over Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh for the Republican nomination in the governor's race. 64 percent said they'd vote for Brownback and 17 percent for Thornburgh while 20 percent were undecided. The poll has a margin of error of +/- 4.6 percent.

The poll found things a bit tighter between the two Republicans who have declared their candidacy for Brownback's Senate seat.

First District Congressman Jerry Moran has 39 percent of the vote to Wichita-area Congressman Todd Tiahrt's 35 percent. 26 percent are undecided. That poll has a margin of error of +/- 4.8 percent.
