A nearly two-year old lion from the Topeka Zoo has safely arrived at her new home in Texas.

Adia is an African lion cub. Topeka zoo director Mike Coker says she left the capital city Monday and arrived at her new home at the Ellen Trout Zoo in Luftkin, Texas late Monday night.

Coker says the move is part of a breeding program that helps ensure genetic diversity and helps to repopulate in captivity.

Adia will turn two years old in June. She'll be paired with a male who also recently moved to the Ellen Trout Zoo.
