SALINA, Kan. (AP) _ A former Saline County jail officer has been placed on probation for fondling female inmates.

The Salina Journal is reporting that Eric Taylor also was ordered Monday to register as a sex offender for the next 10 years.

The 28-year-old Bridgeport man was convicted last month in Salina County District Court of three counts of unlawful sexual relations.

Prosecutors said he groped three women who were incarcerated at the jail in mid-2008. The women, aged 44, 39 and 34, were not named because they were victims of a sex crime.

The women said Taylor pushed his arms through the bars of their cell door and encouraged them to back up to the door, one at a time, so he could fondle their breasts.

Taylor was fired in June.
