Shawnee County District Attorney Chad Taylor filed formal charges Friday against a man accused of severely burning a young boy.
24-year old Jason Lopez is being held on a $500,000 bond for one count of aggravated battery, intentionally causing great bodily harm or disfigurement.
Lopez was babysitting one-year-old Fabian Hackett Saturday while Fabian's mom was at work. While in Lopez's care, Fabian suffered a skull fracture and third-degree burns on 70-percent of his body. A family friend says Lopez told Fabian's mother, Shelly, that he thought he used bath water that was too hot.
Fabian is in a burn treatment center in Cincinnati. His mom reported on his web site that he had a surgery on his arm Friday morning. Also, surgery Thursday to remove dead skin went well. and he's beginning to take breaths on his own.
Lopez will be back in court for a docket hearing April 23rd.
