The city of Topeka will demolish an abandoned apartment building that has been the scene of multiple arsons in the past few months.
Demolition began on the building at 634 Southwest Taylor Friday morning.
The most recent arson fire March 29 did enough damage that officials deemed the building unsafe. An order to demolish the building was applied for and granted.
The city hired McPherson Wrecking of Grantville to do the job. Crews knocked down the building Friday with the disposal process beginning Monday.
