TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) _ Congressman Jerry Moran ended the last quarter with more than $2.9 million in cash for his Senate race in Kansas.

But Congressman Todd Tiahrt, his rival for the Republican nomination next year, says the "generosity gap'' is closing.

Tiahrt reported ending the quarter with more than $1.3 million in cash on hand and says he's on schedule to collect what he needs for the race.

Both totals rely heavily on money raised by Moran and Tiahrt as House members. Moran represents the sprawling 1st District, which includes western Kansas, and Tiahrt represents the 4th District of south-central Kansas.

But Moran's reports shows he raised $522,000 during the first three months of the year. Tiahrt's report shows he raised almost $391,000.
