Garfield Community Center in North Topeka showed off its new activity and learning center this afternoon. The center took out its old center stage and renovated the area for the After School Cool program. The area is divided into pods where kids can learn about math and science, arts and literature, as well as social studies and history. The changes were made possible thanks to a grant from the Saint Francis Mission Fund, community groups, and the city's parks and recreation department. The program is in session on all school days.
