A controversial plan for an asphalt plant in Shawnee county ends with a compromise.
The County Commission granted a permit for Bettis Asphalt and Construction incorporated to build the plant on a 20 acre plot of land north of 45th street and near the county line.
Some nearby residents were concerned about too much traffic in the area.
The commission eventually found a compromise with residents by only allowing plant trucks to use the 45th street exit to the plant on a case-by-case basis.
Bettis will have to seek permission from the commission each time before using that exit.
Bettis had acquired the land from Andrews Asphalt and Construction.
