Kansas Men Arrested in Construction Thefts

JUNCTION CITY, Kan. (AP) _ Two Emporia men are accused of stealing a piece of construction equipment and a trailer last week, and one of them is suspected of several other such thefts.

Capt. Tim Brown of the Junction City Police Department said Thursday that 26-year-old Eric Shetler and 36-year-old Edward Graddick were arrested near Junction City on March 26. Brown said they had stolen a $22,000 Bobcat and a $3,800 trailer from separate locations in the city.

They were charged with two counts each of felony theft and conspiracy to commit felony theft.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation said Shetler may stolen more than $150,000 worth of construction equipment in the Junction City area over the past few years.

Shetler was jailed in $50,000 bond and Graddick's bond was set at $25,000.

Brown said the investigation is continuing.
