Tallgrass Immediate Care and Family Medicine says it has outgrown its facility at 6th and Corporate View.
So the medical center is packing up and heading west. But not too far, the new building will be just a block away.
The new facility will more than triple the size of the old one and increase the number of patient rooms from seven to 25.
"Our new facility... will mean that we can spend more time with our patients, cut down on waiting times, and also have a more comfortable waiting room," said Dr. Betsy Johns, Medical Director of tallgrass Immediate Care.
Once the new building is completed Dr. Johns plans to merge her practice with Dr. Karen Bruce of Prairie family Medicine.
"At the present time there aren't enough family medical practices to serve the needs of Topeka," said Dr. Bruce. "By combining our two practices into one we'll be big enough to invest in the advanced technology to both improve patient care and see more patients."
