TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) _ Topeka police say man jailed in the death of his live-in girlfriend last week was also living with two other women who died in the past eight years.

The 54-year-old man was held on $750,000 bond after an initial court appearance Monday in Shawnee County District Court. Prosecutors say they expect to seek first-degree murder charges in Thursday's death of 44-year-old Terri Nadeau.

The Topeka Capital-Journal reported Tuesday that Nadeau and the man lived at the same apartment complex where he had co-habitated with another woman who died in 2007. In 2001, the man was arrested but not charged in the death of his live-in girlfriend during a fight at their home.

Sgt. Steve Taylor said it's not unusual for investigators to look into a suspect's past, noting that the man has had relationships with three women who have died.
