The Shawnee County Commission voted to delay making a decision on whether to allow an asphalt and concrete plant in the eastern part of the county.
Bettis Asphalt and Construction, Inc. wants to build the plant on a 20 acre plot of land north of 45th street and near the county line.
It acquired the land from Andrews Asphalt and Construction.
Bettis currently operates a facility near I-70 and MacVicar, for them the new plants are a matter of efficiency.
Residents came out to voice their concerns that the new plant just means more traffic. A lawyer for Bettis Construction said the company would consider restrictions on traffic for the permit.
