Negotiators for the union representing engineers at the Boeing Co.'s Wichita defense plant agreed Thursday to a three-year contract they don't like very much.

Members of the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace rejected the company's ``best and final offer'' twice. But the last time they voted members refused to strike.

Instead they gave their negotiating team authority to accept the
rejected offer if they could not negotiate anything better. SPEEA director Bob Brewer says the engineers are very dissatisfied with the contract but understand the economic situation.
