Citizens Get Inside Look at Police Department Operations

TOPEKA, Kan. - People in Topeka got a firsthand look Thursday at what being in law enforcement is all about.

It was the first night of classes for the 24th Citizens' Academy.

Attendees learn about the problems and challenges faced by law enforcement. They also learn about field operations, investigative divisions, bomb disposal and crime scene investigation.

Classes meet every Thursday through June 4th. Anyone interested in learning about future Citizens' Academies should contact Sgt. Lance Feyh at 368-9497. Applications are also made available at the Topeka Police Department, 320 S. Kansas Ave., or at www.topeka.org and mailed to:
