Mayors Delivers Meals for a Day

TOPEKA, Kan. - Meals on Wheels of Shawnee and Jefferson Counties hosted Mayors for Meals Day as part of their March for Meals campaign March 18 and 19.

Mayor Smith of Silver Lake, Mayor Gray of Valley Falls and Mayor Miller of Oskaloosa delivered meals on the 18th to show their support for their respective community's seniors. Topeka Mayor Bill Bunten delivered meals on the 19th.

"We are excited about having Mayor Bunten, Mayor Smith, Mayor Gray and Mayor Miller participate in our event, said Jane Metzger, President and CEO. Metzger said she hoped Mayors for Meals Day would raise awareness of senior hunger in our two county area. "Mayors Bunten, Smith and Miller have been involved with our program in the past, and the national Mayors for Meals Day is an excellent way to continue our relationship."
