Friday the 13th brought hopes for good fortunes to a former Seaman High School basketball star.

The Kickstart Saloon, 2521 N. Kansas Ave., hosted a fundraising motorcycle ride for 2006 graduate Dallas Blocker.

Now playing Division 1 basketball at Youngstown State in Ohio, the 21-year old doubled over during practice two months ago. His coach sent him to a doctor, who diagnosed him with testicular cancer.

People have rallied around the family ever since.

Dallas' father, Kevin, says it's difficult to express how much he and the family appreciate the assistance. He says a lot of people are offering hugs, too, which has a healing affect.

Dallas stopped in for a short time Friday, before heading off to KU Med for an appoint. He's already had surgery for his tumor and doctors are deciding his future course of treatment.

Dallas says all the support means a lot to him and his family.
