Topeka police continue to investigate a violent head-on collision just east of Mifflin road Thursday night.
Police say a 16-year-old was headed east in the 5300 block of southwest tenth, when he drove into the westbound lane on a hill to pass a car in front of him.
While he was cresting the hill he collided with a Ford Focus. Police say both drivers were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
They say the cars safety devices helped reduce more serious injuries.
Police say they do not believe alcohol was involved.
