Ex-Guard Tried for Fondling Inmates

SALINA, Kan. (AP) _ A former Saline County Jail officer is being tried for allegedly fondling female inmates who were locked in their cells.

Testimony continued Thursday in the trial of 28-year-old Eric Taylor of Bridgeport, who was accused of groping three women who were incarcerated at the jail in mid-2008. The women, aged 44, 39 and 34, are not being named because of the nature of the crime.

All three testified Tuesday how Taylor fondled them on June 24. Two of them were serving as trustees and the third was on work release. The women said they feared retaliation, and loss of privileged status, if they reported Taylor or refused his
advances.

One of the women said Taylor told her to back up to the cell door, then reached through the bars under her arms and put his hands on her breasts.

Taylor was fired after an internal investigation.
