Police say an El Dorado teenager who died after her car washed into a drainage ditch called a friend from her cell phone after the wreck.
According to El Dorado police, the friend told 911 dispatchers that they talked for about 10 minutes before the phone went dead Monday night. He told authorities that the last thing 15-year-old Bayleigh Stovall told him was that she couldn't get the door open. He called 911 after the line went dead.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says the girl's car hydroplaned on wet
pavement and crashed into a flooded ditch. She died after her car
washed into a drainage ditch and eventually became submerged.
Stovall's vehicle was found about 50 minutes. She was taken to a
hospital in El Dorado and later transferred to Wesley Medical
Center in Wichita.
A Highway Patrol report said Stovall died shortly before 4 a.m.
