In a speech on the Senate floor Monday, Roberts questioned a budget proposal from President Obama that tops $3.6 trillion.
Roberts says, at a time when families are struggling, the proposal asks them to support new programs and higher taxes to support those programs. Roberts called many of the programs "questionable."
Pres. Obama has defended the plan, saying taxes will be raised only on those making more than $250,000 a year. But Roberts claims it will also have small businesses paying more and will raise energy prices.
