A stretch of Highway 24 through Topeka will continue to see slowdowns through the rest of the week because of a traffic accidents.
Westbound Hwy. 24 over the Goodyear Rd. overpass will be reduced to one lane while crews work to repair damage to the guardrails. The lane reduction could last even longer if it's determined additional work is needed.
Authorities got the call around 6:30 Monday morning that a car had gone off the road on the overpass, bounced between both guard rails and stopped in the middle of the road, ejecting one person.
Two others were caught inside when the car caught on fire but witnesses pulled them out.
All three suffered serious injuries.
The west-bound lane was closed entirely until about 3 p.m. Monday to begin repairs.
If you have any information on the crash, call the accident reconstruction team at 368-9551.
