TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) _ A contingent of Kansas state and congressional leaders will be in Washington next week lobbying for federal funding.

Governor Sebelius will lead the group, which wants Congress to appropriate the $450 million needed to build the National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility in Manhattan. Homeland Security officials already approved the lab for the Kansas State University campus, but Congress hasn't designated the money yet.

Researchers at the facility would study dangerous plant and animal diseases.

The group also wants to push federal leaders to designate the Kansas University Cancer Center as a National Cancer Center. That would increase research and treatment at the center.
