Helping the disabled find information, employment and assistance was the goal of the Resource Expo and Job Fair at the Topeka-Shawnee County Public Library.
About 30 providers were on hand to answer questions and address concerns for people of all ages.
Breakout sessions included topics such as Social Security, Working Healthy, Job Presentation, Post-Secondary Education and Housing and Credit Counseling.
Rachel Kuehn, transition coordinator for the Shawnee County Community Developmental Disabilities Organization, says persons with disabilities are a great asset in the work force. She says events like Thursday's help get the word out that there are jobs available for the disabled.
Kuehn says the groups goal is to provide assistance, education and information for individuals and families of persons with disabilities so that they may live and work independently in the community.
