A Washburn Rural High School graduate is getting an up-close look at the world of Washington politics.

Danielle Coffman is serving as a Congressional intern for Kansas Congressman Jerry Moran. Coffman is a senior business administration major at Washburn University with an emphasis in economics and marketing as well as a minor in political science and 2005 Washburn Rural grad.

She also was first runner up in the Miss Kansas pageant last summer, where she promoted reading for life to elementary students.

“This experience has taken me behind the scenes to witness the process of how to effectively represent the needs of Kansans in the federal government," Coffman said. "I look forward to the continual process of learning and am eager to utilize this experience when I return to Kansas.”

Coffman's responsibilities are to assist Moran with legislative and administrative duties on behalf of the people of Kansas.
