Sgt. Chris Halloran said the man told officers that he picked up two women at around 9:30 a.m. Sunday after they asked him for a ride. But moments later the women grabbed the man's wooden cane and began beating him.
After the pair left in his car, the elderly man made his way through some brush and across a ditch looking for help. He knocked on the door of a home where a resident called police.
The man suffered cuts to his scalp and a broken bone in his face and was hospitalized in serious but stable condition.
Police are trying to find the women and the injured man's car, a 2002 blue Buick LeSabre with Kansas handicapped tag 162-80.
