The Osage City school district's long-time superintendent is taking another job.

The Osage County Herald-Chronicle reports David Carriger will become superintendent of USD 493 Columbus in southeast Kansas, effective July 1st.

Carriger was principal at Osage City High School for 6 years, before taking the superintendent's job 11 years ago.

In Columbus, he'll replace Ken Jones who's retiring after ten years at the helm.

Carriger told the herald it will be tough to leave, but the move will take him closer to his parents.
