OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (AP) _ An Overland Park police officer has received $8 he didn't expect he'd ever get back from a motorcyclist passing through town, out of gas and broke 21 years ago.

Al Edmond was riding from his home in Las Cruces, N.M., to Olathe for a job interview when he ran out of gas in Overland Park. He didn't have the money to make it the rest of the way, so Sgt. Dan Carney pulled up and offered him $8 for gas.

Edmond said he misplaced Carney's contact information, but recently found it and mailed him a money order for $8.

Carney said of the unexpected payback, ``there's definitely something to learn there.''

Edmond said Carney ``has been constantly on my mind,'' for the way he helped him.
