America needs to build for its future. That was the message Thursday night from former governor of Kansas Bill Graves. He returned to the Kansas to speak to a full house at KU's Leid Center.

Graves is now president and CEO of the American Trucking Association. He cited a recent Society of Civil Engineers Infrastructure study that gave the U.S. mainly "D's" for the condition of things like roads, bridges, energy and railroads. He says keeping America strong will take investment.

Graves was Kansas governor from 1995 to 2003. His appearance was part of the KU business school's Anderson Chandler Lecture Series.
