If you love to tinker with cars, the Topeka Police Department would love to hear from you.

TPD is looking for up to 10 volunteers to help with vehicle maintenance. Responsibilities would include topping off fluids, inflating tires, checking supplies and shuttling patrol cars to the garage for more serious maintenance.

Modeled after a similar program in Oregon, the proposed "Cruiser Detail and Provision Team" is expected to save money and officers' time.

Anyone interested can call coordinator Ben Clay at 368-9237.
