Consultant to Recommend Single-terminal Plan at KCI

Kansas City International officials and their consultants say they still support replacing the airport's three terminals with a single building. Consultant Russ Blanck, of the Landrum and Brown firm, says their recommendations will likely be submitted to the Federal Aviation Administration this month.

Last week, airport officials and the consultants conducted the last of a series of public discussions on the 36-year-old airport and its long-range plan. The single terminal would be built south of the east-west
runway. Consultants say it would be cheaper to operate and more
attractive to carriers looking to make the airport a regional or
national hub. Blanck says if the changes are approved, it still could take
decades for them to happen.
