(Topeka, KS)--Topeka Transit riders who take the bus on weekdays after 6:30 p.m. or on Sundays will have to find a new way to get where they want to go. Topeka Transit is suspending those routes.

Concerned representatives of AARP, as well as Kansas Adapt, which represents disabled Kansans, spoke to the Transit board at Tuesday's meeting. They expressed their concerns that the people they represent will not be able to get to social activities, church, meetings or most importantly, work.

The Transit Board was sympathetic, but said they cannot keep up with their costs.

If you'd like to express your concerns, you can attend a 5:15 p.m. meeting Wednesday afternoon at the Transit Authority. There will be a public meeting to discuss these concerns at the Topeka and Shawnee County Library, Thursday, March 5th at 6:30 p.m.
