A Polar Plunge pulled in plenty of profit for one organization.
Kansas Special Olympics announced Tuesday that its Polar Plunge at Lake Shawnee raised more than $20,000. The event was held Jan. 31.
The group says a record 110 people took the plunge in the chilly lake waters while 77 more took to the streets for the 5k Polar Strut.
All the money will help athletes with special needs enjoy the thrill of competition.
