A Topeka animal shelter's call for help has been answered.
Helping Hands Humane Society says the Denver Dumb Friends League will be admitting some of the Topeka animals at its shelter.
The Topeka staff were preparing Tuesday for their trip to Colby, Kansas, where they will meet DDFL staff to drop off the animals.
Helping Hands says this has been the busiest year ever. They are admitting many more animals than they have room for. Through the new arrangement, Helping Hands hopes to transfer about 25 animals, at least twice a month.
HHHS Executive Director Carol Stubbs says t's a large commitment for both sides to transport the animals and it's an expense, but if it can save animals' lives it's worth it.
DDFL is a 90-thousand square foot facility. Topeka's HHHS is in the midst of a capital campaign to raise money for a new and expanded shelter building.
