TOPEKA, Kan. -- Students at Royal Valley Elementary School took to the stage to honor Abraham Lincoln's birthday today.
Children, from kindergarten through fourth grade, belted out songs and dances this morning.
Their rousing versions of the "Battle Hymn Republic" and "Lincoln" impressed the crowd, while high school students performed a skit on Lincoln's rise to power.
Abraham Lincoln himself made an appearance and read a book called "Mr. Lincoln's Whiskers."
The event concluded with celebratory cake for everyone.
