Jackson Heights High Cleared Out Due to Smoke

A fire scare cleared out Jackson Heights High school Tuesday morning.

District officials say they evacuated the school as a precaution when an odor of smoke invaded the halls.

They investigated, turned out smoke from construction work on a new addition got into the school's ventilation system.

No fire was found.
